We are excited to announce that we won the Research and Development Project of the Year Award at The Australian Space Awards 2025 for our innovative Gridded Composite Rocket Body.

Now in their sixth year, The Australian Space Awards recognise the significant contributions that Australian individuals and companies are making to the driving the development of Australia’s space economy and the wider impact to the global space industry.

Our Award Winning R&D Project focused on the development of a Gridded Composite Rocket Body that would meet space launch requirements, using a highly repeatable and scalable laser-assisted automated fibre placement (laser-AFP) process.  This project demonstrates our sovereign capability in design and manufacturing for lightweight components that meet launch requirements. This capability can also be applied to other satellite and instrumentation structures as the material is accepted by NASA and the ESA for space applications due to its low out-gassing behaviour. The project enabled us to test and refine our world-leading digital twinning technology to ensure quality and performance of the composite structure in critical space applications.
